The Kitzsteinhorn with its glacier is covered with ice and snow throughout the whole year - that ensures unique nature and sport experiences. Up to 10 months per year the lifts are open, which is great for all skiers and snowboarders. Apart from that you get some amazing views of the summerly mountain world.
Up to 3029 metres high some impressive hiking trails lead across the perpetual ice. Once you have arrived on top you will be able to enjoy a truely breathtaking scenery, which you will never forget.
The newly created "Gipfelwelt 3000" (peak world) is the highest point in the province of Salzburg - and it can be easily accessed by anyone. The viewing plattform on 3000 m altitude enable impressive views of the region and the surrounding mountain ranges. Even Austrias' highest mountain, the "Großglockner" can be admired from here. A special highlight of the "Gipfelwelt" is the National Park Gallery - here you can douse into the inside of the mountain and learn a lot of things about the mountain, nature and technique. Visit the Cinema 3000 to watch a spectacular and exiting movie about the high-alpine nature, the beauty of the mountains and the fauna on the Kitzsteinhorn.
In July and August the "Ice Arena" is a great experiece on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. Additionally you will find slides, snow beaches and an ice-bar.
Even in the warm summer months there is always snow and ice on the peak of the Kitzsteinhorn above 3000 m altitude. That's why a hike on the Kitzsteinhorn-Glacier is a refreshing experience... That means that appropriate garments and equipment should not be forgotten.
After hiking, a climbing tour or a day skiing on the Kitzsteinhorn you can round off the day perfectly with a nice swim in the cool lake or a fine round of golf. There is rarely any other resort, where you can experience such a unique combination.
